Both Courses At The Prairie Club Ranked in 100 Greatest Public By Golf Digest
The New Year is off to a terrific start for all of us at The Prairie Club -- both of our courses have been ranked in Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Courses list!
Coined "The game's oldest ranking, established in 1966," the Golf Digest ranking system works on a couple of different levels. They ranked their courses due to their specific criteria then pump the lists out based on final rankings.
The Prairie Club's Dunes (#35) and Pines (#75) both made the list of 100 Greatest Public in their first year of eligibility.
In order to earn a ranking on the 100 Greatest Public list, a minimum number of 25 ballots needs to be received by Golf Digest evaluators. From there, seven factors are evaluated using a numbering process-- these include Shot Values, Resistance to Scoring, Design Variety, Memorability, Aesthetics, Conditioning and Ambience.
The Dunes Course finished 35th with a 'points' total of 58.6291, as the leader, Pebble Beach Golf Links finished with a ranking of 67.6226. The Pines Course finished with a total of 56.3803, finishing 75th. Neither course received enough ballots to qualify for the 100 Greatest (overall) list in America.
In describing the Pines Course, Golf Digest wrote: "For pure golfing variety, Prairie Club rivals even Bandon Dunes."
We encourage you to check out the entire listing and read what they had to say about us!
